Do you ever feel trapped in a situation?
Trapped, stuck, imprisoned, hopeless… These are no fun at all.
We might find ourselves trapped in a job we hate, or in a bad situation of some kind; the possibilities are almost endless.
Yuk! I hate that feeling!
No matter where we are in life, we need not be trapped, for there is a way out. No matter what the situation is, we need not be stuck there; things can change, even if our circumstances remain the same, things can change. A person might be locked up in prison, and yet be set free from bondage. A person might be trapped in an incurable disease, yet be set free from worry about it. A person in financial bondage might be set free from the notion that all is lost; they may come to understand that money is not as important as they once thought it was.
A person suffering from the trauma of an abusive relationship can be set free from the pain that it has caused when they come to understand what their priorities should be in life. The possibilities for freedom are as limitless as the causes of bondage, if we will only stop and check them out. But…
…there is a catch! We may not be able to do this on our own; we may need help. The help of a wise counsellor, a dear friend or loved one, or a mentor is often needed for us to escape from the bondage that we find ourselves in. Most importantly of all, we will need the Mediator who can intercede for us with God Himself, Jesus Christ.
You might scoff at this statement, but it is true. Jesus said that you “shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” What is truth, you might ask? The Truth is Jesus Himself! He can set us free from bondage to sin, addiction, cruelty and the scars that so many carry with them through their lives, but in order for this to happen, we must let Him become the Lord not only of the universe, but of us as well. He brings back hope, love and a sense of never being alone; He can take away our pain if we will be willing to swallow our pride long enough to let Him in.
The anguish on this guy’s face is all too common in this world, and it doesn’t look like he’s having much fun there buried in the sand. If you can identify with this guy and his predicament, maybe you should consider letting Jesus be the Lord of your life…
If you are already a follower of Jesus Christ, maybe you need to really follow Him by leaving your “self” behind so that you can live again!

An excellent reminder and conversation. It takes a long time and a bumpy walk with Jesus to really get to the point wherein”spiritual muscles” are developed enough to have this perspective. That said, we have countless reminders in the Bible of men and women who faced adversity and horrendous odds and could still see God’s hand in the trials. Jus think about Mary who was a teenage when she was told she was going to have a baby(Jesus ) .. She could have lost her betrothed, she did lose her reputation, she could have been stoned to death for adultery AND she would have to bare the grief of losing her Son in a very gruesome and painful way. Yet she submitted and said to the angel Gabriel, ” let it be as you have said.” So hard, so very hard to he trapped. Thank God He can always take what seems like misery and use it for Good. blessings on your efforts. Keep on blogging!
