If you’ve been dropping by here over the last few days, then you’ll know that I’ve been in the process of re-thinking this blog site and its future. So many have added comments, encouragement and suggestions, and I’d like to thank each and every one of you who have joined in the conversation. I know that you all have your own blogs, lives and “stuff” to deal with, and so I really appreciate your willingness to help me out with these decisions going forward here.
I’ve come up with some ideas, with your help, about how to go forward with The Life Project (TLP) blog site. I will continue blogging through Bible books in the expository style (line by line), but I will also add more topical studies. In fact, my thought is that I’ll do both more or less continually with expositories Tuesday through Friday mornings at 6 am Eastern, and topical studies Tuesday through Fridays in my second posts (11:30 am Eastern). The first Bible study will be where we left off with 2 Corinthians, starting next week, and the first topical will be on forgiveness, also starting next week.
I will also have some new things, features I suppose you’d call them. On Saturdays at 1300 Eastern, I’ll post a weekly editorial. It will deal with some area of news that is current for the week, just like you’d see in any Op-Ed page of a newspaper. Next, I’ll do a Life article each week on Mondays at 11:30 am Eastern. This may deal with a lot of things that have to do with life in general like food, culture, music, challenges, travel, places, people… who knows?
I’ll post Inspirational on Monday and Saturday mornings at 6 am Eastern. Devotionals, pictures, quotes, poems… anything that might be inspirational. Finally, I will keep the photo of the week and Sunday Sermon notes where they are currently on Wednesdays and Sundays.
As we go forward, I’ll be looking at blog themes and other ways to improve the look of TLP, and I’ll be experimenting with video to try and make TLP more inviting to a larger audience to build the Kingdom of our Lord in whatever way I can. Oh, I almost forgot, the 1400 time slot on M, T, Th and F will also be available for Bonus Posts of various kinds, like I’ve been doing for several years now…
The main point of all this is so that TLP can become both a resource and a refuge for people who are looking to bring their Christian walks forward, to grow spiritually and in faith. To deal with the issues of life, and to be encouraged to persevere in the Faith. I want everyone to feel safe here, to be comfortable, even if they disagree with me from time-to-time, as most will do. In short, I want to bring glory to God, to serve Him, and to share His love with everyone who desires to follow Him.
Well, that’s the plan. I hope it sounds interesting to you, and I’d sure look forward to any comments you may have on this or any other subject. Have a great weekend!
Looking forward to the changes and especially glad to hear you’re keeping the Sunday Sermon notes…I foresee a very good thing getting even better!
Thank you!
Brilliant!
Sounds delightful Don. You put a lot of thought into that, and as a reader I appreciate it. I am always amazed at those who can “Blog on schedule” I have not grown to that point yet! Keep up the good work! I look forward to reading as much as I can.
Oh come on Pete, I only expect you to come by 4 or 5 times a day! 🙂
Don’t worry – I’m sure I won’t .LOL But I do know it will all be good.
It sounds exhausting! I’m impressed that you can find the time for all of that – and I look forward to reading.
It’ll only work for me because I write very quickly once I have a topic.
Sounds good. Thinking of theme change as well.
I don’t know about you, but I seem to grow tired of my theme every so often, even though I’ve only had 3 in 7+ years.
Haha! I have been here for just over 1yr and I changed mine for the first time today. You can check it out and let me know what you think🙂
I like it!
Thank you!
This sounds FABULOUS! It will be different in a good way for you, very interesting for us. Sounds like more work, but with the eclectic content – especially the op-ed posts- you won’t get bored. God bless you, give you strength, and be glorified in each and every post (and in your life as well)..
Thank you so much Jackie, I really appreciate that.
Wow! You’ve got a lot of bases covered there, Don. Sounds great! I especially appreciate that the Bible book studies are continuing, even as repeats; each will be spread over a longer time as one-a-day/4-a-week posts. The sermon notes are also appreciated. It ALL sounds good. Yours is a great example of how we are to put our God-given abilities to work in His Kingdom.
Thank you Dennis, that means quite a lot.
wow. now, this is a project and a half…interesting to say the least and I, for one, look forward to each post you do even if I get waterlogged in my own daily tasks and miss some of yours …”bother bother bother”…keep plugging away. Amen to your thinking and planning. Sounds great!
Thank you, I hope I don’t mess it up too much 🙂
It exhausted me just reading about it. Seriously, looking forward to the changes – especially the video idea.
LOL
That one can go in so many directions! Yesterday I was rambling on about making a sort of studio in the basement saying I should start saving egg cartons. As you might imagine Cathy just rolled her eyes 🙂
Sounds like a plan.
I’d like to poke the bull while we’re discussing topics and ask the you restart the series on progressivism.
Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve been thinking about that quite a bit over the last few days. Of course, just turn on the news and you’ll see that story playing out right there in front of everyone 🙂
Very ambitious Don
Now when I say that to someone, I am usually thinking they’ve bitten off a bit too much! 🙂
No…in this case I just meant very ambitious LOL. You are quite prolific, so I bet you will get this done. You are right, though; I have said that when what I meant was, “Hey are you nuts?.” In this case, no.
Sometimes this is just too much fun! 🙂
Sounds fantastic Don. I always enjoy reading your work😊
It should be an interesting ride 🙂
I think you have a big enough following to submit quizzes on little known topics/information that isn’t readily evident to the casual reader. Quiz of the day/week? May generate great interest. vw
I will admit that I kind of surprised myself with the number of ideas I came up with once I got serious about it… but that (quizzes) was not one of them. I’m really quite intrigued… Let me think on that one… 🙂
Yea, it’s like you’ve been teaching, what then have they learned. 🙂
Indeed.
Looks good, Don. So glad you are continuing
